Wilson James procures an eco-telehandler at Google KGX1 site

26th August 2021

Wilson James has pledged to procure a completely low emissions fleet by 2040 to help us on our road map journey to net-zero carbon emissions.  In the first phase of our plan, we have set ourselves a 2030 target of: a 60% electric fleet.

With a completely electric escort fleet and hydrogen powered PRM vehicle already based at our Heathrow site, we have recently begun thinking about where and how we will expand this throughout the business. The next change we have made is at our Google site in Kings Cross, where we have rented our first eco-telehandler!

The eco-telehandler is an environmentally friendly option for single shift or multi-shift materials handling options. It operates with zero CO2 emissions and offers the same performance as an equivalent conventional telehandler without the noise of a combustion engine. It is also a great option economically speaking as the maintenance is simple and cheap compared to a conventional telehandler model.

We are hopeful that this will encourage other sites to explore similar environmentally friendly options for their fleets and is a large step towards reaching our carbon reduction goal.
