Wilson James celebrating a year of partnership with The Stanhope Foundation

15th August 2022

Celebrating a year of partnership, Wilson James and The Stanhope Foundation have brought even greater inspiration for making a difference to the most disadvantaged in London communities.

As a Lead Partner of Stanhope, Wilson James have been aiding initiatives with three charities: Maggie’s, St Mungo’s and The Prince’s Trust. Between them, the three charities support those affected by cancer, homelessness and the challenges faced by young people.

Charity initiatives and volunteering opportunities supported by Wilson James throughout the past year include:

  • Putting Down Roots project by St Mungo’s – a horticultural therapy and training project, using gardening as a tool to help people build self-esteem, confidence and sociability.
  • Future Leaders programme by The Prince’s Trust – two-day programme which consisted of confidence and soft skill building sessions as well as job interview preparation.
  • New Maggie’s Centre at St Barts Hospital – a guided visit round the centre which is a safe space for those with cancer and their families to chat with specialists and counsellors.
  • Christmas gift wrapping and baking – an evening spent with other partners of Stanhope preparing Christmas treats for all three charities.
  • London to Lisbon, Journey for Jobs challenge – 8BG Gardner Gold, a team of five Wilson James team members, took part in the fundraising initiative by donating £1 for each mile they were tasked to walk, run, swim, row or cycle, contributing to the total of over £16,000 raised for all three charities.
  • Charity Golf Day – running two events simultaneously, the ‘pro’ 18 hole golf competition and also a ‘Learn to Love Golf’ event for absolute beginners, all ticket sales were direct donations to all three charities.

Also, the appointment of Wilson James as an Official Security Services Provider at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games helped supply tickets for the velodrome event on Friday 29 July to a group of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds involved with The Prince’s Trust.

With many more exciting projects yet to come, this important partnership realises ideas of both companies to get better and do better together as a team in support of those that need guidance.
